After the votes were counted and displayed, it was revealed that both town council president Republican Greg Brewer and clerk treasurer Independent Stephanie Crider will keep their seats for the next four-year term.

Brewer and Democrat Linda Robinson competed for the District 2 seat in a race where Brewer led by less than 10 votes. Brewer received 156 votes, at 51.15%, with Robinson receiving 149 votes, 48.85%.

Brewer sat in the back of the Annex building with his family, waiting as the vote counts were displayed on a projector as they came in. Later on, the final results on pieces of paper were spread throughout the room. Brewer looked at the paper that showed the results.

Brewer said that with this win he plans to continue working with the council and future development plans that are already taking place, such as the new town center — McCord Square. Brewer, who is also on the Vernon Township Fire Territory, wants to keep public safety a priority.

“I’m happy to serve four more years and finish some of the things we started — town center, police station, increase our fire protection territory and fire services,” Brewer said.

Brewer also mentioned starting to take a look at some road projects in the near future that will eventually be a need for the town. While Brewer said that their hands may be tied on some projects, he said they still need to reevaluate and start putting together road projects sooner rather than later.

“McCordsville’s a great place to live,” Brewer said. “I hope more people look at it as a destination to come and live and raise their children.”

Republican Megan Brewer and Crider competed to be McCordville’s clerk treasurer, with Crider taking the spot with 527 votes compared to Megan’s 360 votes — 59.41% to 40.59%.

Crider took the clerk treasurer position in January 2023 before serving as the town’s utility department supervisor for approximately three and a half years. Crider took the seat after she had won a Republican caucus to succeed former clerk-treasurer Staci Starcher.

McCordsville Town Council District 1 seat will go to unopposed candidate Republican Chad D. Gooding and the District 3 seat will go to Republican John Price.

Cumberland Town Council and Fortville Town Council had no competition as each open seat had one candidate.

Fortville’s three open seats for this election were unopposed and went to newcomer Republican Vanessa Battaglia and Republican Tonya Davis, both District 1; and Republican Libby Wyatt, District 2. Republican Melissa Glazier is clerk treasurer.

Cumberland’s council will be comprised of Republican Edward D. Loud, District 1; Republican Mike Wolski, District 2; Republican Anna Pea, District 3; Republican Breck Terheide, District 4; and Republican Joseph Siefker, District 5. Clerk treasurer is Republican Erica Salmon.
