GREENFIELD – Stars of a ‘70s TV show helped raise money for a local charity that brings joy to children at Christmas.

“Dinner with CHiPS” was Sept. 30 in downtown Greenfield, and an additional autograph show Sept. 29 in Indianapolis brought in several hundred people.

Combined, the events raised over $10,000 for Blue Angel Connect. “CHiPS” was a TV police show in the 1970s and 1980s.

The autograph show Sept. 29 brought in people from across the U.S. as well as France, Brazil, Italy and Canada. There were also two replica CHP motorcycles at the event for people to take pictures with.

“The dinner on Saturday night was held at Bradley Hall in Greenfield,” Burris said in an email. “Guests had the chance to mingle with the stars of the show, Larry Wilcox (Jon) and Erik Estrada (Ponch) during a cocktail hour and then enjoy a nice dinner. The dinner event included music by 3 of Heart, a silent auction, and a wonderful desert presentation by Nannies Baking Creations. The weekend event raised well over $10,000 for Blue Angel Connect. These funds will be used towards our annual Holiday Hope Christmas program where we assist deserving families in both Hancock and Henry County.”

The Holiday Hope Christmas program is completely funded by donations received during the year. More information about Blue Angel Connect and applications for assistance can be found at blueangelconnect.org.
