Healthy community award nominations open

GREENFIELD – Nominations are open now for the annual Hancock Health Foundation’s Healthy Community Awards.

Each year, the foundation recognizes a local organization whose service efforts have created positive change in the health and wellness of local communities. The recipients will be notified and announced publicly before the end of the year. The Bert Curry Healthy Community Award is named in honor of the foundation’s first executive director and recognizes an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to helping others and improving the health and wellness of the community. The Bobby Keen Healthy Community Award, named in honor of the former HRH president and CEO, recognizes a hospital program or local organization that has made an impact.

Nominations are due by 4 pm. Nov. 30 . The form and more information can be found at hancockhealth.org/foundation. Benefit Christmas shopping event this week

INDIANAPOLIS – Hope Center Indy will host a shopping event this week in support of survivors of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation and addiction.

Hope for the Holidays is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 9, 10 and 11, and from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Redefined Hope Boutique, 11850 Brookville Road, Indianapolis.

In addition to clothing and jewelry the boutique usually has on hand, there will also be Christmas ornaments, snow globes, tumblers, toys and more. Visit hopecenterindy.org for more information.

Breakfast to raise money for volunteer work

GREENFIELD – Special Olympics of Hancock County will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser this Saturday.

The open-donation event, from 8-10 a.m. Nov. 11, will be at Hancock County Lodge No. 101 for Free and Accepted Masons, 661 Tague St., Greenfield. All donations will be used for Giving Tuesday when athletes will canvas Hancock County doing random acts of kindness. They will also accept gently used children’s or adults books and non-perishable food items.

The menu features pancakes, sausage, fruit, orange juice and milk.

“Trees on Main” to decorate Fortville alley

FORTVILLE – Tree sponsorships are available for decorating The Alley in downtown Fortville.

Fortville Action Inc. is hosting a Landmark Park fundraiser called Trees on Main, and creating a “picturesque holiday destination for everyone to enjoy.” Trees are being sponsored and decorated between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1. Trees will remain up through the end of the year.
