Law enforcement officials are looking into a gas station robbery in Fortville over the weekend.

FORTVILLE — Officials with the Fortville Police Department are still investigating an early Sunday morning armed robbery at the Speedway Gas Station on 335 E. Broadway Street. Officials say an armed robber stole money then took off running from the gas station at approximately 1:38 a.m. Sunday morning, Nov. 5.

Fortville Chief of Police Patrick Bratton and his officers are still looking into the scene after initially starting the investigation early Sunday morning shortly after the robbery took place. The thief, Bratton said, had a gun, demanded money from the worker there and took the money out of the register before fleeing east on foot toward Madison Street.

“It was a limited amount of money,” Bratton said. “We’re still trying to determine if the person had someone, a driver waiting to help him out or not.”

Bratton noted the person working at the gas station was not injured during the robbery but nonetheless went through a traumatic experience.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is asked to contact the Fortville Police Department immediately at (317) 485-4044.
