MORRISTOWN — Eastern Hancock took control early and won its season-opening girls basketball game at Morristown Thursday, 66-32.
Eastern Hancock (1-0) led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter and took a 30-15 lead into halftime.
The Royals outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-14 in the third quarter and held the hosts to just three fourth-quarter points.
Freshman guard Kenzie Koch led Eastern Hancock in scoring with 22 points. She had 16 in the second half.
Senior Ruby White had 12 points, all in the second half.
Off the bench, Camryn Andrus scored nine on three first-half 3-pointers.
Makenzie O’Neal added seven points.
Eight different Royals scored. Sydney Springman scored six points. Brooklyn Willis and Ellie Meyer had four points each. Kiersten Judd scored two points.
Morristown got 13 points each from Nevaeh Cox and Danika Rutledge.
Eastern Hancock opens its home season Saturday against Rushville. Morristown (0-2) hosts Tri on Tuesday.
