CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock High School senior Brooklyn Willis recently made a donation of sensory-friendly toys to a local hospital, thanks to her EH community.

Willis was inspired to give back to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent because she appreciated their help with her younger brother Colten over the years. She created an Amazon wish list of toys for children with sensory needs to use at the hospital or while in therapy.

Brighten a Kid’s Day Together raised money through passing out a collection bucket at volleyball and football games, and flyers with Amazon wish lists were distributed.

“The money raised at the volleyball and football games was turned into a teaching lesson with Eastern Hancock High School essential skills classroom,” she said in an email. “The classroom picked items off the Amazon list to donate with the funds raised. Late September, I dropped the toys off that were donated to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital! I feel extremely blessed with how this event turned out and I cannot thank my community enough for all the support.”

She went on to say he hopes to incorporate similar events while attending the University of Indianapolis.
