GREENFIELD – Calling the creative-minded: crafters are welcome at a new club, hosted by the Hancock County Public Library.

Adult Crafternoon Club is once a month at the main branch of the HCPL in Greenfield.

At the meetup in October, local resident Adele Wijsman said there are many arts and crafts opportunities for children that she’s grateful there’s something for adults now too.

Sure, she said, crafts can be done at home alone but it’s more fun to be creative together.

“They do it for children and they should do it for grown-ups,” said Wijsman as she put finishing touches on a shawl. “You might be able to learn something new from other people.”

Bring your own supplies to make your own craft; adult coloring pages are always available at the library. Sign up in advance or simply drop in. The club is usually the third Tuesday of every month.

Librarian Veronica Rychtarczyk said the club started in August and has had good interest so far.

“We’ve had a few questions at the desk if we’d have a crafting program and we figured we’d give it a try and see how it goes,” she said, adding that it will continue in the foreseeable future.

The opportunity to gather with others not only helps with exchanging ideas, Rychtarczyk said, but also getting to know others.

“It’s a good way to connect with others in the community, people with similar interests,” she said.

The next Crafternoon Club is scheduled for Nov. 21. Learn more at hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.
