Air show Oct. 28-29

GREENFIELD – Tickets are available now for an air show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels coming to Hancock County.

Crossroads Air Show will be Oct. 28-29 at the Indianapolis Regional Airport in Greenfield. Parking and admissions tickets can be purchased online and funds from the Crossroad Air Show will support central Indiana scouting groups and Riley Children’s Foundation.

Single-day admission tickets range from $10 for general admission to $1,600 for a table of eight at the Flight Line Club. Photo tours can be purchased as an add-on for $25. General admission is free for youth cub scouts and children ages 5 and under.

Single-day parking passes are required to attend the air show and are not included with an admission ticket. A standard parking pass is $150, motorcycle parking is $50 and bus parking is $500.

Exhibit on memories opens in November

GREENFIELD – View a stirring exhibit on artists’ memories of people, places and things of the past in “Gone, But Not Forgotten.”

The exhibit at Greenfield’s downtown Twenty North Gallery will run Nov. 1-30; a reception is at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10. at 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Visit hancockcountyarts.org for more information.

“Newsies” musical coming up

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon High School presents “Disney Newsies the Musical” Nov. 2-5. The musical was inspired by the newsboys strike of 1899, following the story of leader Jack Kelly as he embarks on a mission to unite news vendors into a formidable union in response to rising newspaper costs, which affect their sales to the public.

Tickets are at mvhs.booktix.net. The production is recommended for ages 6 and up and is $16 for adults, $12 for children 18 and under online. At the door it’s $20 for adults, $15 for children.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Nov. 2; 7 p.m. Nov. 3; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 4; and 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at the high school, 8112 N. 200W., Fortville.

Libraries to host book clubs, events

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several programs for adults are coming up in November at local libraries.

A genealogy open research program is Nov. 6 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Also at the main branch is the Brown Bag Book Discussion is Nov. 14; Writers Helping Writers is Nov. 16; and Adult Crafternoon Club Nov. 21. The Ladies in READ Book Club will have an event off site at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Cracker Barrel in Greenfield.

In New Palestine, local author Kathy Jutte will give a presentation Nov. 16 from her book “And We’re Testing Your Son for Down Syndrome.” The Sugar Creek branch is located at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.

Both branches will host watercolor classes for adults Nov. 29-30. Register for HCPL events at hcplibrary.org.

The Vernon Township Public Library hosts a Tuesday Morning Club at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday, featuring Bingo, puzzles, crafts or card games. The library also hosts adult English literacy classes each Tuesday and Thursday evening. For more information, visit vtpl.lib.in.us.

Breakfast, Christmas market scheduled

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street has announced plans for traditional holiday events in downtown Greenfield.

The Ho Ho Ho Holiday Breakfast is set for three times Dec. 16 at Bradley Hall Event Center; Get tickets through facebook.com/GreenfieldMainStreet.

Also on Dec. 16 will be the BOHO Holiday Artisan Market at Bradley Hall, 2 W. Main St., Greenfield. Live reindeer will be in the alley area next to Griggsby Station. Get a complimentary photo from a vintage Volkswagen photo bus, and gourmet hot cocoa and other treats will be available for purchase from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
