To the Editor,

I’m writing to inform you of the professional job that Aimee Herring and Shannon did while prosecuting two cases that involved Patrick Thompson and Kirk Lonas.

Both Aimee and Shannon reassured the girls that winning cases like these may not be easy and will take some time from start to finish. The stories the girls told were not anything new to the prosecuting office. Unfortunately, they will continue to hear the same stories from other girls.

Aimee and Shannon not only listened but they heard the pain the girls shared. They understood why girls are afraid to tell their stories to anyone. Girls who speak up are strong and brave. The prosecutor’s office was there to help them in every aspect. The prosecutors are great examples of showing patience, being loving and kind while doing their job in seeing that these men are going to be held responsible for their own actions. These men took these young girls’ innocence, which they will never get back.

The family is impressed with the very difficult job that Aimee and Shannon do daily. It is wonderful to see that justice prevails — that standing up for justice may be hard but it is so worth it.

Please continue in standing for these things. Our society needs people that are willing to do just that, more than ever.

Thank you for all this office does in serving the victims of our community.

There are lots of resources. All you have to do is speak up and ask for help.
