MV foundation to host fundraisers

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation will host a Bourbon, Bags and Bingo event Oct. 5. The event is 5-9 p.m. at Adaggio’s, 599 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield. Sponsorship levels are available ranging from $500 to $1,500; door prizes are also accepted. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] to sponsor.

MV superintendent available at local events

FORTVILLE – Anyone in the Mt. Vernon community is invited to join Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker at an upcoming Traveling Talks event.

The events allow for anyone to ask questions or hear updates from the superintendent. Parker will be at Tim’s Bakery in McCordsville at 7 a.m. Sept. 29 at 6087 W. Broadway St., McCordsville; complimentary donuts provided.

Other upcoming Traveling Talks are at 7 a.m. Oct. 19 at Sunrise Bakery, 101 W. Broadway St., Fortville with complimentary donuts; and at 7 a.m. Nov. 8 at Starbucks at I-70 at Mt. Comfort Road (2776 N. Huger L. Phelps Drive, Greenfield) with complimentary coffee. Events are free and there is no need to pre-register.

Prange earns degree from UA

NEW PALESTINE – Ashley Prange of New Palestine was among the University of Alabama student athletes to graduate this summer.

Prange, who plays softball for the university, received a master’s degree and was among 131 Alabama student-athletes to earn diplomas during the 2022-23 academic year.

Honor students recognized by SNHU

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several students with Hancock County ties were recently honored by Southern New Hampshire University.

Students named to the summer Dean’s List include Jonathon Hall of Fortville; Glenn Fortune, McCordsville; Evan Lawry, Greenfield; Eric Brumley, Fortville; and Cornesha Thompson, Greenfield. To earn the honor, full-time undergraduate students must have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.5 to 3.699.

The SNHU summer President’s List included Brandon Pope of Greenfield; Natalie Wilson, New Palestine; Wyndell Birch, New Palestine; and Charles Nichols-Redman, Fortville. The honor is for students with a 3.7 or higher GPA.

SNHU is a private, nonprofit institution located in Manchester, N.H.

School foundation planning gala event

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Central School Foundation is hosting its annual Red Letter Gala Sept. 30.

Each September, gala guests see interactive displays from previous grant recipients, granting wishes from our Wish Upon A Star display (an initiative to help classroom teachers); honor G-C Alumni Hall of Fame inductees; and mingle with community and education partners and alumni. The gala celebrates the impact of philanthropy and education on the lives of students past, present and future.
