MV superintendent available at local events

FORTVILLE – Anyone in the Mt. Vernon community is invited to join Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker at an upcoming Traveling Talks event.

The events allow for anyone to ask questions or hear updates from the superintendent. Parker will be at Tim’s Bakery in McCordsville at 7 a.m. Sept. 29 at 6087 W. Broadway St., McCordsville; complimentary donuts provided.

Other upcoming Traveling Talks are at 7 a.m. Oct. 19 at Sunrise Bakery, 101 W. Broadway St., Fortville with complimentary donuts; and at 7 a.m. Nov. 8 at Starbucks at I-70 at Mt. Comfort Road (2776 N. Huger L. Phelps Drive, Greenfield) with complimentary coffee. Events are free and there is no need to pre-register.

Mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up this month in Hancock County.

Upcoming blood drives through Versiti Blood Center of Indiana include: Sept. 18 at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St., Greenfield; Sept. 21 at Hancock Wellness Center, 888 W. New Road, Greenfield; Sept. 21 at Greenfield Banking Company, 1920 N. State St., Greenfield; Sept. 21 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway St., McCordsville; Sept. 26 at Hancock Wellness Center New Palestine, 4055 S. Roy Wilson Way, New Palestine; Sept. 27 at Daniel’s Vineyard, 9061 N. 700W., McCordsville; and Sept. 30 at Wooden Bear Brewing Co., 21 W. North St., Greenfield.

Parks department seeks public feedback

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation continues to accept feedback from the community as it seeks to update its master plan.

Find the link for an online survey at facebook.com/greenfieldparks. The department will also accept survey responses at its next park board meeting, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Greenfield City Hall, 10 S. State St., Greenfield.

McCordsville to host trunk or treat event

MCCORDSVILLE – The town of McCordsville is seeking participants for a Trunk or Treat event.

The event will be 4-6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Outlook Church, 6531 N. 600W., McCordsville. Participants should decorate their vehicle or trunk space for a chance to win prizes. Candy must be individually wrapped and sealed, and ready to hand out by 4 p.m. To register, email [email protected].

Soccer benefit tournament coming up

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield-Central High School women’s soccer team will host its annual tournament to raise awareness and money for the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center at Hancock Regional Hospital.

The GC Women’s Soccer Kickin’ Cancer Tournament is set for Sept. 16 at the high school, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. There are several sponsorship and donation opportunities to help.
