Lord’s Acre Festival Sept. 15-16

MCCORDSVILLE – The 2023 Lord’s Acre Festival is coming up Sept. 15-16 in McCordsville.

The festivities will be 4-8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 16 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway St., McCordsville. The longstanding tradition features a vintage car show, face painting, bounce houses, silent auction, live music and truck exhibits from the Vernon Township Fire Department. Cruise-in at bowling alley for Special Olympians

GREENFIELD – A cruise-in benefiting the Special Olympics of Hancock County is coming up Sept. 15.

The event will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Strike Force Lanes, 1539 W. Main St., Greenfield. Hog dogs, hamburgers and baked goods will be available for a free-will offering that will benefit athletes.

Pastel, chalk art downtown

GREENFIELD – Pastels and chalk art will be celebrated in an exhibit this month in downtown Greenfield.

Pastel art – a medium using fragile, finger-sized sticks that use powdered pigments that appears to glow – will be on display throughout September at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For more, visit hancockcountyarts.org.

Fashion show to benefit local charity

GREENFIELD – A runway show at a local fashion consignment shop is coming up to support recovery programs in the community.

Fashion and Flowers Runway Show is from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 16 at The Branded Exchange, 1556 N. State St., Greenfield. Tickets at eventbrite.com include admission, a bag of coupons and other swag and fashion projects.

Proceeds will support Greenfield’s Genesis program, a relapse prevention and change group.

New historic display at Riley Home

GREENFIELD – A new historic exhibit is at the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and museum, in honor of Labor Day and exploring the labor that goes into construction. Artifacts include information on construction of the Monument Circle in Indianapolis. The home is located at 250 W Main St., Greenfield. Hours and tours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Jazz orchestra coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – The nationally recognized Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at the Hancock County Public Library.

Composed of leading professional instrumentalists and vocalists, the IJO was created to preserve the dynamic history of big bands with musical arrangements based on classics from the early 20th century’s Great American Songbook.
