Riley Wranglers to host square dance lessons

CUMBERLAND — Join the Riley Wranglers for beginning square dance lessons.

Lessons begin 7-9 p.m Sept. 13 at Cumberland United Methodist Church, 219 N. Muessing St., Cumberland. The first lesson is free, and after that it’s $4 per lesson, per week. Those who are not available Sept. 13 could start Sept. 20. Dress is casual with comfortable shoes. Call 317-894-7765 or email [email protected] for more information.

Greenfield Elks to host several benefit events

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Elks Lodge has announced several fall activities coming up.

A euchre tournament to benefit the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will include dinner starting at 5 p.m. Sept. 16; tournament begins at 6 p.m. at the lodge, 820 S. State St., Greenfield. A trivia night also benefiting the soup kitchen is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 14 with dinner and team play at $10 per person.

An outdoor event to raise money to fight cancer is set for 5-10 p.m. Sept. 23. Admission is $10 and includes live music and outdoor games. The Depot will have a food truck on site to purchase items.

Bourbon bingo is coming to the lodge Oct. 21. A community Trunk or Treat is set for 3-5 p.m. Oct. 29.

Homemakers hosting community activities

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Extension Homemakers are involved in several community activities coming up.

The group is sponsoring an informative program on human trafficking, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Hancock County Public Library. Heather Maravilla from the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program will be presenting at the event, which will include defining human trafficking; recognizing red flags that identify potential trafficking victims; identifying youth populations most vulnerable; a survivor’s story and more. A Kindness Rocks craft class is the third Wednesday of every month at the Patricia Elmore Center’s senior center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield. In September, the class will make bird houses. Sign up at 317-477-4343.

Apples are the theme of this year’s Baker’s Best contest, hosted by Hancock County Extension Homemakers and Tuttle Orchards. Entries are due Sept. 30 for judging and the grand champion will win $50 and be asked to create a new baked entry for the mayor at the Mayor’s Breakfast Oct. 7.

Shrine Club to host meeting and meal
