Greenfield-Central sophomore Paige McCarley scored all of her team’s goals, earning a hat trick in a 3-0 victory over visiting Greenwood Monday.

Junior Alyssa Deckard had two assists and sophomore Chloe Gardner had one.

Goalkeeper Jessica Merritt earned the shutout with the help from a back line that included Kalyn Moss, Tessa Joyner, Jorja Houston, and Grace Cunningham along with the play of Emily Jones.

The Cougars host Hoosier Heritage Conference rival New Palestine Wednesday.

Mt. Vernon defeats Fishers

Mt. Vernon’s girls soccer team got first-half goals from Esther Isger and Ellie Gawrys in a 2-0 victory at Fishers Monday.

Kylie Brandes and Addison Lockwood each had assists.

It was the second straight win for the Marauders. They won a 4-0 Hoosier Heritage Conference decision Saturday against visiting Yorktown.

Brandes, Lockwood, Mattie Isger and Aya Renforth scored goals. Mattie Isger also had three assists. Brandes and Gawrys also had assists.

Goalkeeper Ava Stephenson had two saves Saturday and four at Fishers Monday.

Mt. Vernon is 7-3 on the season and welcomes Center Grove Wednesday.

Boys tennis

Dragons win fourth straight

New Palestine’s boys tennis team defeated Pendleton Heights 4-1 Monday, earning a fourth-straight win.

New Palestine had three wins in singles play. No. 1 Moses Haynes won 6-1, 6-0. No. 2 Arjomand Khokhar picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory and Brady Torzewski won a three-setter 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

In doubles action, Max Havel and Joey McPike won 6-2, 6-3. The No. 2 team of Eli Sloan and Tyler Wilson lost 6-4, 6-7, 11-9.

The Dragons are 6-4 in dual matches and travel to New Castle Wednesday.

Cougars shut out Bears

Greenfield-Central’s boys tennis team improved to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 5-0 victory at Shelbyville Monday.

At No. 1 singles, Chris Long won 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2, Mateo Molanphy picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory. A clean sweep in singles continued with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph from No. 3 Caden Robertson.

In doubles action, the No. 1 group of CJ Michalek and Luke Sitzman won 6-3, 6-3. At No. 2, Alex Michalek and Nathan Roberts were victorious 6-3, 6-2.

Greenfield-Central plays at Pendleton Heights Wednesday.

Dragons defeat Arabians

New Palestine defeated Pendleton Heights 172-196 at The Links Monday.

Lauren Deering led New Palestine with a nine-hole round of 36.

Lauren Appleby followed with a 44. Hanna Beller, Lily Kirchner each carded 46s. Katie Kelley finished with a 48 and Kate Stanfield finished with a 50.
