Robert Earl Plummer, 84, of New Palestine, passed away on September 3, 2023. He was born on August 14, 1939, to Roy and Gladys (Bechtold) Plummer. He married Barbara Williams on May 21, 1960, at Nativity Catholic Church in Indianapolis.

After graduating from Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis in 1957, Robert attended Purdue University receiving an associate degree in applied technology. He began working in general contracting in the early 1960’s. Throughout his career he worked on many commercial projects, such as the original surgery center at Community South and many large warehouses. He worked for or owned several successful construction companies throughout his career, including Pearson Construction, United Construction, and Superior Construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, yard work, cooking, and watching his beloved Yankees baseball team. He was a member of Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Plummer, of New Palestine, his three daughters: Diane Plummer of Franklin, Patricia Hughes (Russ) of Franklin, Karen Plummer of New Palestine; his granddaughter Emma Albright (Eli) of Noblesville; and step-grandchildren, Brett (Lindsay) Hughes of Indianapolis, and Rachel Hughes of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by brothers James Plummer (Jan) of Carmel, Dave Plummer (Linda) of Prescott, AZ, John Plummer (Patty) of Indianapolis, and his sister, Marsha Burkhardt (Leo) of New Palestine.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.40, Greenfield, IN 46140. The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 2:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Michael Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the New Palestine Cemetery, during a private family graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary and the church.
