Chamber meeting on education center

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce will delve into the proposed Hancock County Innovation and Education Center at its upcoming meeting.

The group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at NineStar Connect, 2243 E. Main St., Greenfield. Alaina Shonkwiler of The Veridus Group is the speaker; food provided by Onsite Caterer. Register by Sept. 8 at greenfieldcc.org; cost is $15.

Human trafficking program coming up

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Extension Homemakers is involved in upcoming community events.

The club is sponsoring an informative program on human trafficking, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Hancock County Public Library. Heather Maravilla from the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program will be presenting at the event, which will include defining human trafficking; recognizing red flags that identify potential trafficking victims; identifying youth populations most vulnerable; a survivor’s story and more. Morristown Chamber to host luncheon

MORRISTOWN – The Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce will have a September luncheon at noon Sept. 19 at the Morristown Fire Station.

Guest speakers are Brad Sommer, Bunge manager/ plant protein. Cost is $13 for members, $15 for non-members. Make a reservation by Sept. 15 to [email protected] or 765-763-6748.

New Pal Lions Club announces the Oktoberfest

NEW PALESTINE – The New Palestine Lions Club announced a new twist on a long standing tradition. For over 70 years, the New Palestine Lions Club has given the community a three-day Fall Festival event. This year it will be called Oktoberfest.

The event, Sept. 16, kicks off at 11 a.m. with a parade and will include authentic German food, a Root Beer Garden Kids Area fundraiser for New Palestine High School, adult games and beverages, the New Palestine High School All Class Reunion and live music by Der Polkatz, a polka band at 7 p.m.

Fall plant sale coming up

GREENFIELD – Hancock County Master Gardeners is planning its fall plant sale this weekend.

The event will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds 4-H Show Arena, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. The event will include perennials and fall annual for sale, live demonstrations and master gardeners on site to answer questions.

Riley Wranglers to host square dance lessons

CUMBERLAND — Join the Riley Wranglers for beginning square dance lessons.

Lessons begin 7-9 p.m Sept. 13 at Cumberland United Methodist Church, 219 N. Muessing St., Cumberland. The first lesson is free, and after that it’s $4 per lesson, per week.
