Turkey Day 5K registration open

GREENFIELD – The annual Thanksgiving Day run in downtown Greenfield is scheduled for Nov. 23. The Turkey Day 5K will be at 9 a.m.; price is $30 plus a $2.80 signup fee. Price increases to $35 after Aug. 31. There is also a one-mile event, starting at 9 a.m. for $20; price increases to $25 after Aug. 31. Proceeds of the race benefit Greenfield Parks & Recreation, Hope House, and Greenfield Main Street.

Food drive Sept. 9 at Walmart

GREENFIELD – Rotary Club of Greenfield’s annual Fill a Truck, Fill a Pantry event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.

Drop off non-perishable food items to the truck parked on Walmart’s north side. All donations go to local food pantries.

Human trafficking program coming up

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Extension Homemakers is sponsoring an informative program on human trafficking, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Hancock County Public Library.

Heather Maravilla from the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program will be presenting at the event, which will include defining human trafficking, recognizing red flags that identify potential trafficking victims, identifying youth populations most vulnerable, a survivor’s story and more. Benefit 5K coming to Southeastway Park

INDIANAPOLIS – A Bee the Light 5K is coming up, honoring Shelby Kraft who passed away in 2022.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at Southeastway Park, 5624 S. Carrol Road, Indianapolis. Proceeds will be donated to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation; Rett Syndrome is an incurable neurological disorder, primarily affecting girls and women, which can lead to significant disability.

Shelby Kraft is the namesake for Kindness Delivered, a faith-based mobile ministry that delivers acts of kindness. Sponsorships are also available. Registration is $35; price increases after Sept. 13. For more, visit kindnessdelivered.org/beethelight.

Soccer benefit tournament coming up

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield-Central High School women’s soccer team will host its annual tournament to raise awareness and money for the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center at Hancock Regional Hospital.

The GC Women’s Soccer Kickin’ Cancer Tournament is set for Sept. 16 at the high school, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. There are several sponsorship and donation opportunities to help.
