Greenfield-Central’s boys basketball team will play in the 10th Annual FORUM Tipoff Classic, set for Dec. 9 at Southport Fieldhouse.
A Forum Tipoff Classic social media account has been announcing participants throughout the month that will play in the event featuring some of the state’s top boys basketball teams and individuals. The Cougars’ accepting their invitation was announced Wednesday.
Greenfield-Central is coming off a school-record 21-2 season and are led by junior guard Braylon Mullins, who received a number of scholarship offers from high Division-I programs this summer.
Southport, Guerin Catholic, Noblesville, Lawrence North, Kokomo, Center Grove and Fort Wayne Wayne have also accepted invitations to the full day of Hoosier hoops at one of the state’s most iconic high school facilities.
The Cougars are scheduled to play host Southport at 12:30 p.m.
Volleyball
Dragons win in 3
New Palestine’s girls volleyball team improved to 9-1 on the season with a 3-0 victory against visiting Warren Central Wednesday.
The Dragons won by set scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-1.
Bella Brownfield led the attack with 15 kills and Makaeli Johnson added eight service aces.
Kyndra Monteith had eight digs and five aces. Setter Samantha Gooding added 25 assists.
New Palestine plays host to Hoosier Heritage Conference and Hancock County rival Greenfield-Central today.
Boys tennis
Royals beat Bulldogs
Eastern Hancock’s boys tennis team picked up a 4-1 victory against visiting Lapel Wednesday.
The Royals swept the doubles matches. At No. 1, Myles Wennen and Luke Schilling defeated Shyam Lewis and Tyler Cash 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Bo Dixon and Garrett Bridges won over Caleb Pinkerton and Aiden Gooding 6-0, 6-3.
In singles play, Eastern’s No. 2 player Luke Fletcher beat Bode McClintock 6-3, 6-0. At No. 3, Josiah Swauger downed Quinn Wilkins 6-3, 7-5.
At No. 1 singles, Luke Zeilinga lost 6-3, 6-1 to Lapel’s Hogan Bair.
