GREENSBURG — Greenfield-Central senior Kirk Knecht had touchdowns on offense and special teams and picked off two passes on defense to help lead the Cougars to a 57-0 win over Greensburg at Shriver Field Friday.
Knecht had the biggest of a lot of big nights.
He had two receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown, a kickoff return for a touchdown and two of three Greenfield-Central interceptions.
Carson Anderson had an interception return for a touchdown.
The Cougars, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A, scored four times on the ground and two times through the air.
Lane Wadle had a pair of receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Dallas Freeman and backs Cooper Hinton, Jake Hinton and Boston Willard all scored rushing touchdowns.
Braylen Benavente had 13 carries for 59 yards. Aaron Lee chipped in with a 41-yard field.
“We’ve got a lot of weapons and we’re spreading the ball and getting a lot of guys touches,” Greenfield-Central coach Travis Nolting said.
Defensively, Payton Foley had 10 tackles, including three tackles for loss.
“The defense played great. They gave us a short field all night,” Nolting added.
It was the second straight dominant win. A week ago, at home, Greenfield-Central beat Madison 49-0.
On Friday against Greensburg, the Cougars jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and led 41-0 at halftime.
A week ago, the Cougars beat Madison 49-0, scoring all of their points in the first half, including 29 in the first quarter.
The Cougars open Hoosier Heritage Conference play Friday, at home, against Hancock County rival Mt. Vernon.
