Restoration Conference begins Friday

GREENFIELD — The annual Restoration Conference at Apostolic Pentecostal Church runs from Friday through Aug. 26 at the church, 1202 E. Fifth St.

Jason Gallion, executive vice president of Indiana Bible College, will speak in a service at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Josh Rea, assistant national youth leader for the United Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, will speak in a service at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

Bobby Killmon, dean of biblical studies at Indiana Bible College, will speak at a youth service at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 26.

A restoration project is set for 4:30 p.m., and/or when the youth service ends. Those participating are encouraged to wear their T-shirts from camp.

Greenfield Christian plans Homecoming

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will celebrate Homecoming at 10 a.m. Sunday.

It will feature an old-fashioned hymn sing, special music, a pitch-in dinner, and “a message of joy,” according to a press release from the church.

Curry’s Chapel offers hog roast

GREENFIELD — Curry’s Chapel Church will serve its annual hog roast from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the church, 3488 N. County Road 375E. Organizers expect to feed more than 400 people.

The event has a 40-year history. This year’s menu features roasted hog, potato salad, baked beans, green beans, cole slaw, assorted desserts and drinks.

There is no charge, but a free-will offering will be accepted. “The event is not intended to be a fund raiser,” according to a press release from the church, “rather the goal is to encourage the regular attendance of church.”

Love INC gathers hygiene items

GREENFIELD — Love INC is conducting a product drive for the Household and Hygiene Outreach Gap Ministry at St. James Lutheran Church.

You can drop off any of the following items at the Love INC office located at 630 N. State St.: laundry soap, fabric softener or dryer sheets, trash bags, tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, all-purpose cleaner, window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, different-size zip-lock bags, men’s and women’s deodorant, body lotion, hand soap, cotton balls, cotton swabs, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and toothpaste.

Former Brooks & Dunn backup to present concert

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) presents a free concert featuring Trez Gregory, who for seven years was a backup singer for country duo Brooks & Dunn.

Food trucks will be on site at the event, set for 4-7 p.m. Aug. 27 in the parking lot of the church, 23 N. East St. Concertgoers are advised to bring lawn chairs.

The concert will feature all genres of music. If it rains, the concert will be moved indoors.

Harvest of Talents bazaar, car show coming Sept. 9

FORTVILLE — The seventh annual Harvest of Talents is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W.

A bazaar features woodworking, crafts and other items. The event also includes a bake sale, used treasures market, classic car show, silent auction, and breakfast and lunch.

All proceeds will support feeding programs through International Disaster Emergency Service.

Zion Lutheran offers DivorceCare

NEW PALESTINE — DivorceCare is a weekly seminar/support group meant to share biblical principles for healing from a marriage breakup.

It will be offered from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from Sept. 5-Nov. 28, in Conference Room B at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. County Road 300S. You can learn more by sending email to [email protected].

Art exhibit continues through Aug. 31

GREENFIELD — There is a summer art exhibit in the 23 East Gallery, housed in Greenfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 23 East St. in downtown Greenfield.

Twenty-four children have artwork displayed in the latest exhibit, “By Kids … For Kids.” A special reception took place following the Aug. 13 service. The gallery is also open Monday-Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Aug. 31.

The gallery opened last winter with new exhibits rotating every three months. Merlyn Winters, pastor, planted the idea.

The next callout for art includes textiles, fibers, handmade items and quilts. Contact Sandy Hall, [email protected], if you are interested in exhibiting. Deadline for submissions is Oct. 10.

Chicken sandwich drive-thru open

MT. COMFORT — Chick-fil-A lunches are available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays (or while supplies last) at Mt. Comfort Church’s Mt. Comfort Campus, 3179 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield.

Each lunch costs $10 and includes a Chick-fil-A sandwich, bag of chips, cookie and a drink.

All proceeds go to help support Our Lady of the Apostles Family Retreat Center (2884 N. County Road 700W, Greenfield) and Mt. Comfort Church.
