Marauders’ soccer correction
In the report in Wednesday’s Daily Reporter on Mt. Vernon’s 2-1 boys soccer victory over Richmond, the time of the Marauders goals were incorrect.
Mt. Vernon’s goals were not scored in the 6th and 17th minute, but rather in the final minutes of the match.
Charlie Cole and Colby Smith scored goals in an exciting contest that was tied 0-0 until Mt. Vernon scored with less than 20 minutes remaining in the match. Richmond answered, but the Marauders had the decider on a penalty kick in the final minutes.
The initial penalty kick was blocked by the Richmond goalkeeper but the keeper was ruled to have come off his goal line too early. The second Mt. Vernon attempt was successful.
Mt. Vernon is 1-1 on the season.
