New Palestine’s boys soccer team began its regular season Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over Mooresville at Kelso Stadium.
Elliott Canova opened the Dragons scoring on a 25-yard free kick in the 27th minute.
New Palestine scored two more goals before halftime.
Andon Colclazier stole an errant Pioneer pass and then found the back of the Mooresville net. After Paxton Holmes was fouled, Canova picked up his second free-kick score of the night, this one from 18 yards away.
In the second half, shortly after a big save from New Pal goalkeeper Jake Wells, Colclazier scored his second of the night for a 4-0 Dragons’ lead.
New Palestine opens Hoosier Heritage Conference play Thursday at Yorktown.
Mt. Vernon evens record
Mt. Vernon scored two early first-half goals and went on to record a 2-1 victory, at home, Tuesday over Richmond.
Sophomore forward Charlie Cole scored in the game’s sixth minute. Junior midfielder Colby Smith provided the second goal in the 17th minute.
With the win, the Marauders evened their record to 1-1. On Saturday, they lost at Class 3A No. 6 Hamilton Southeastern.
Mt. Vernon travels to Warren Central Thursday.
Game postponed
Greenfield-Central’s boys soccer match at Ben Davis Tuesday was postponed to today.
Action begins at 5:30 p.m. with the junior varsity game. The varsity contest follows.

Dragons lose opener
New Palestine’s boys tennis team opened its season with a 4-1 loss to Whiteland at New Palestine Junior High Tuesday.
The Dragons are back in action Thursday, at home, against Yorktown.
