Stanley Bedford Moore, age 91, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born in Mt. Herman, Kentucky on March 10, 1932 to Annie F. (Quinn) Moore and Frank C. Moore. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War earning multiple medals, among them a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and 2 Bronze Stars. On April 18, 2002, Stanley married Hattie Rhine (McCoy) in Pikeville, Kentucky.

For many years, he owned and operated Moore Brothers Sunoco with his brother, Garland. Following Moore Brothers Sunoco, Stanley and Garland owned Emerson Liquors in Indianapolis. He retired in 1995 from the Indianapolis War Memorial after sixteen years of service. Stanley was a member of many organizations including Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge Brookside #720, the VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed spending time gardening and traveling. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Stanley demonstrated kindness, generosity, and that contagious smile daily while impacting those around him by his love and life lessons.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Hattie Moore of Indianapolis; children, Rick and Tracy Rhine of Greencastle (Courtney, Katie, Josh, Zach, Drew, Carly, Spencer), Rita Rhine of Cloverdale (Tony, Sean), Rod and Tammy Rhine of Santa Maria, CA (Seth, Katie, Samantha), Retha and Mike Hunsicker of Lafayette (Hannes, Bart, Jesse, Vince), Renita and Brian Elliott of Greenfield (Brynn, Corbin), and Russ Rhine and Kim of Vancouver, WA; 19 great-grandchildren; and nephews, David Moore of Indianapolis, Bobby and Dianne Mabe of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Mike Moore and Kevin of Irvington, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Frank; son, Randy Rhine; brother, Garland Moore; and niece, Cindy Kaufman.

Visitation and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Celebration of Stanley’s Life Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. immediately after the visitation. Burial with full military rites will take place at Orchard Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
