Greenfield Police Department investigating shooting involving two juveniles

Officials with the McCordsville Police Department are investigating an early morning shooting.

GREENFIELD – Officials with the Greenfield Police Department (GPD) are investigating a late afternoon shooting in the 1100 block of East 1st Street which is located to the east of Riley Park.

Chief Brian Hartman said an officer was flagged down in the 700 block of East Main Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in reference to a person who had been shot.

The person shot has been identified as a juvenile and was transported to Hancock Regional Hospital in stable condition. Hartman noted the juvenile has since been transported to an Indianapolis hospital. The condition of the shooting victim is unknown at this time.

Officials have since arrested a juvenile in connection with the shooting.

“We have one person shot and one suspect in custody,” Hartman said.

Hartman went onto say Greenfield officials are unfortunately dealing with a major issues associated with juveniles, guns and illegal drugs.

“Since June 26, we’ve been investigating a group, mainly juveniles related to buying and selling of guns and drugs,” Hartman said. “Since the investigation has started we’ve taken six illegal guns off the streets, along with narcotics and made 8 to 10 arrests of both juveniles and adults.”
