Marauder JV golfers beat Shelbyville
After a pair of 18-hole tournaments Tuesday and Wednesday, Mt. Vernon won its first dual meet Thursday.
Playing with the JV squad, Mt. Vernon beat Shelbyville 199-238 at Blue Bear Golf Course.
The Marauders were led by medalist Aerin Hubbell with a 42. Marissa Miner shot 50, followed by Elianna Young with a 53, Emily Westfall‘s 54 and Guinevere Williams with a 55.
Mt. Vernon returns to action Tuesday with Beech Grove in a three-way match hosted by Lawrence Central.
G-C defeated in opener
Greenfield-Central’s girls golf team lost its opener, a three-way meet in Columbus, Thursday.
Whiteland and Columbus East each scored 191, with Whiteland taking first on its fifth golfer’s score.
Greenfield-Central finished with a 244, led by Ella Neill with a 54. Tanessa O’Neal and Della Hedge each finished with 63s. Kynsey Hasty followed with a 64.
The match was played at Otter Creek (East Nine) Golf Course in Columbus.
Columbus East’s Carter Gant, with a 4-over-par 40, was medalist.
The Cougars return to action Saturday in the 18-hole Greensburg Invitational.
Royals fall at Wapahani
In its first match of the season, Eastern Hancock’s girls golf team lost in a three-way meet at Wapahani that included Union (Modoc).
Wapahani won with a 202, led by medalist Delaney Dodd with a 42. Eastern had a 266 and was led by Emily Grant with a 63.
Eastern Hancock is back in action Tuesday with Union at North Decatur.
