Mt. Vernon’s girls golf team, in its second 18-hole tournament in as many days, shot a 385 to place sixth at the Tipton Lady Devil Invite Wednesday.
The 385 was eight strokes lower than the team score at Tuesday’s Hamilton Southeastern Invitational and better than all rounds from the 2022 season.
Carmel, ranked No. 1 in the state, won the event with a 301. No. 4 Westfield was second at 321.
Mt. Vernon was just six strokes away from fourth place. Chesterton was third with 361. Westfield ‘B’ shot 379 and Southmont, led by medalist Addison Meadows’ 4-under-par 67, shot 380.
The Marauders were led by Izzy VanHeel with an 85. Aerin Hubbell followed with a 96. Kylie Hyde finished with 101 and Marissa Miner and Kalin Wallpe scored 103 and 116, respectively.
Mt. Vernon is back in action today in its first dual meet of the season. The Marauders take on Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Shelbyville.
