Leadership applications due this week

GREENFIELD – Applications are open for the 2023-2024 class of Leadership Hancock County.

LHC develops leaders to assume an active role in the growth, manage and success of Hancock County communities, according to the group’s website. Since 1994 LHC provides classes, training, projects and more for local residents and community employees. To learn more, visit leadhc.org. Applications are due Aug. 4.

Breastfeeding celebration Friday

GREENFIELD – The eighth annual World Breastfeeding Week celebration is coming up. The Hancock County WIC is hosting an event for mothers from 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Ninestar Connect, 2243 E. Mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up the next two weeks in Hancock County.

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana will have a mobile drive at the following sites: Aug. 5 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 532 S. Merrill St., Fortville; Aug. 6 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield; and Aug. 8 at F.C. Tucker-Cumberland, 28 Yorkshire Blvd. E., Indianapolis. Mental health, wellness groups starting up

GREENFIELD – Several wellness groups are starting up this month at Wellspring Center in Greenfield.

Living Grace is for those living with a mental health difficulty or disorder; Family Grace helps individuals care for themselves as they care for those living with a mental health issue; Power UP is for children ages 9-12 to help them overcome life challenges; Redefine Grace is for ages 13-17 and offers mental health solutions; Grief Share is a support group to help after the death of a loved one; Breaking the Chains of Trauma for Women is a peer group for trauma-related issues; and Recovery & Renewal is for both men and women to support a healthy lifestyle free from addiction.

Most classes are on Tuesday evenings and begin Aug. 8 but enrollment is open any time. To learn more about mental health groups, call Wellspring Center at 317-462-2015 or visit wellspringind.org. The center is located in Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield.
