GREENFIELD
Ronald Lee Holbrook, 82 of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at his residence. He was born the son of Gordon and Hazel (Stallard) Holbrook on September 26, 1940, in Jenkins, Kentucky. Ron graduated from Whitesburg, KY High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. Ron married the love of his life, Loretta Thompson on September 26, 1963, in Clintwood, VA.
Ron spent 23 years of his working career at General Motors Co. in Indianapolis until retiring in 1993. Ron was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church and the UAW Local #933. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Ron was nothing less than a family man with a heart of gold and would lend his hand to anyone. He will be dearly missed by many.
Ron is survived by his wife, Loretta Holbrook; daughters, Michelle Prather; Melanie (Ryan) Bewley; sister, Rosalie (Roger) Gilliam; nine grandchildren, Megan Todd; Brandon Begley; Hannah Prather; Rylee Bewley; Loren Bewley; Mark Smotherman; Maddie Holbrook; Maverick Holbrook; Cailyn Clay; three great-grandchildren, Mara Todd; Larry Todd; and Ryder Johnson. Ron is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Mark Holbrook; brothers, James; Jack; Randy; and Jerry Holbrook; and sister, Brenda.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11:00am at the mortuary with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and Greenfield Veteran’s Honor Guard.
