Benefit golf scramble coming up

FORTVILLE – Fortville Action Inc. will host its third annual golf scramble Aug. 12.

The event, with check-in starting at 7 a.m., will be at Arrowhead Golf Course. Registration is $75, or $380 for a team and includes time at the driving range, 18 holes of gold, a golf cart, lunch, swag bags and a chance to win prizes. Registration is required by July 31 at fortvilleaction.com. The non-profit organization encourages the spirit of community relationships in Fortville and the surrounding area by creating awareness of heritage and historical value, according to the website.

Chocolate Walk coming up Aug. 11

GREENFIELD – The annual Chocolate Walk is coming up in downtown Greenfield from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 11.

The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event, a scavenger hunt of sorts for chocolate where participants stroll through downtown streets and stores to collect gourmet chocolate from businesses.

Start at the Chamber building, 1 Courthouse Plaza, Greenfield; get a punch card and a map. Each participating business or organization has a sign in front of their location to help participants find them.

DR seeks state fair stories

GREENFIELD – The Daily Reporter is seeking suggestions on what to cover this year at the Indiana State Fair.

Story suggestions could include local families with multiple generations participating in contests; unique vendors or performers with Hancock County connections; or stories of animals or 4-H’ers who have beat the odds to be at the fair. The DR will also accept photos of 4-H’ers with ribbons after showing at the fair. Those who have an idea on Hancock County ties to the state fair can make a suggestion to [email protected].

Dick Wolfsie appearing at upcoming event

GREENFIELD – Dick Wolfsie, humor columnist and television personality, will speak at an upcoming Greenfield club meeting.

The Rotary Club of Greenfield invites the community to hear Wolfsie speak at noon Thursday, July 27 at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield. Derby Days coming to Morristown

MORRISTOWN – The Morristown Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the Adult Derby.

The event begins at 4 p.m. July 28 with weigh-in; race time begins at 6 p.m. The event features food vendors and a beer tent opening at 5 p.m., and entertainment begins after the race featuring Strange Brew at East North Street in Morristown.

The event kicks off the community’s Derby Days, which includes festivities on Saturday with vendors opening at 9 a.m., a parade at 11 a.m., a car show at noon, sports tournaments in the afternoon and a live performance with the Andrew Young Band at 5 p.m.
