Benefit golf scramble coming up

FORTVILLE – Fortville Action Inc. will host its third annual golf scramble Aug. 12.

The event, with check-in starting at 7 a.m., will be at Arrowhead Golf Course. Registration is $75, or $380 for a team and includes time at the driving range, 18 holes of gold, a golf cart, lunch, swag bags and a chance to win prizes. Registration is required by July 31 at fortvilleaction.com. The non-profit organization encourages the spirit of community relationships in Fortville and the surrounding area by creating awareness of heritage and historical value, according to the website.

Chocolate Walk coming up Aug. 11

GREENFIELD – The annual Chocolate Walk is coming up in downtown Greenfield from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 11.

The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event, a scavenger hunt of sorts for chocolate where participants stroll through downtown streets and stores to collect gourmet chocolate from businesses.

Start at the Chamber building, 1 Courthouse Plaza, Greenfield; get a punch card and a map. Each participating business or organization has a sign in front of their location to help participants find them.

Free paper shredding available at GBC

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Banking Company will have free, on-site shredding for the community this month.

The final Community Shred Day of the season is 9 a.m. to noon July 22 at the main office 1920 N. State St., Greenfield. The shredding is for paper documents only, and participants should limit paper shredding containers to a maximum of three tall kitchen trash bags (13 gallon). Be prepared to transfer shred documents from a vehicle to the shred truck attendant. Shredding services are provided by Stericycle/Shred-it.

Blood drives scheduled throughout county

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up soon in Hancock County, including several of them today, July 20.

Blood drives today will be at Hancock Wellness Center, 888 W. New Road; Greenfield,Greenfield Banking Company, 1920 N. State St., Greenfield, and Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 U.S. 52, New Palestine.

Blood dives the rest of the month include: July 25 at Hancock Wellness New Palestine, 4055 S. Roy Wilson Way, New Palestine; July 27 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway St. McCordsville; July 26 at Daniel’s Vineyard, 9061 N. 700W., McCordsville; and July 29 at Wooden Bear Brewing, 21 W. North St., Greenfield.
