Office olympics event coming up
ANDERSON – An upcoming event hosted by the Ivy Career Link office will raise money for training courses designed to strengthen the Madison and Hancock County workforces.
The inaugural Office Olympics will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 21 at Ivy Tech Community College, 815 E. 60th St., Anderson. The $350 team entry fee is for five members to compete in games such as paper football, pictionary, trash can basketball, paper clip toss and more. The winning company will secure a traveling trophy. Proceeds go towards subsidizing the college’s Skills Training courses. Register by July 7 by emailing [email protected] or visit link.ivytech.edu/olympics.
Book donations accepted at HCPL
GREENFIELD – Clean out your shelves and help bring programming to the Hancock County Public Library with a book donation coming up.
The Friends of the Library, the non-profit charitable group of volunteers who raise money through the sale of donated items, will collect books from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8 at the main branch of the HCPL, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Gently used books, DVDs, CDs and video games will be accepted at the side delivery entrance (northeast corner); a volunteer will assist when someone rings the bell. A tax receipt may be requested.
The Friends group hosts regular book sales to raise money for concerts, children’s performers and special projects. For more information, call hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.
Blood drives coming up
HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up soon in Hancock County.
Blood drives during the first two weeks of July include: July 2 at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. 600W., New Palestine; July 8 at St. John United Church of Christ, 11910 E. Prospect St.,Indianapolis; July 11 at Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S. Maple St., Fortville; and July 15 at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. 300S., New Palestine. The Rotary Club of Greenfield is also hosting a drive, from 10 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. July 13 at 23 N. East St., Greenfield.
