“Hot Rod” play this weekend

GREENFIELD – More than 100 local children present a play this weekend.

“Hot Rod: Cruisin’ Back to the 1950s” by the Hancock County Children’s Theater is at 7 p.m. today, June 30; and Saturday, July 1 at the Greenfield-Central High School auditorium. The play is the conclusion of a four-week program where children learned about acting, singing, set design and more. Ticket are $7 per person.

Libraries offer free family events in July

HANCOCK COUNTY – Summer programs for families in Hancock County continue in July at local libraries.

Teens can participate in a weekly science/technology challenge each week, or a Mario Kart tournament at the Hancock County Public Library. Children ages 2-6 with their caregivers are invited to a Music and Movement class at 10 a.m. July 7 at the main branch of the HCPL in Greenfield. Bentley’s Buddies and Friends will be at both branches of the HCPL July 23, sharing dogs with children to help them gain confidence in reading. Visit hcplibrary.org for details.

At the Vernon Township Public Library, teens are invited to a 1960s trivia night at 6 p.m. July 11 at 625 E. Broadway St., Fortville. “The False Prince” will be discussed at the Bookworms Middle Grade Book Club July 17 in Fortville. EHHS offers blessing box to community

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock High School has a new blessing box, offering free pantry items to anyone.

The box is located outside of door 20. Anyone is welcome to take what they need, or donate non-perishable items directly to the box. The high school is located at 10320 E. 250N., Charlottesville.

Boys and Girls Club to host wrestling fundraiser

GREENFIELD – An upcoming wrestling event will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County.

WCWO, an independent professional wrestling organization, will perform at 7 p.m. July 15 at the club, 715 E. Lincoln St., Greenfield. Tickets are $15 for the front row, or $10 for general admission.

Teddy bear clinic coming up

GREENFIELD – Gateway Hancock Health just west of Greenfield will host a Teddy Bear Clinic event for children of all ages.

The free event is 9-11 a.m. July 8 at 6189 W. John L. Modglin Drive, Greenfield. Bring a favorite teddy bear, stuffed animal or doll to Gateway Hancock Health and learn how to care for them and keep them healthy. Children will check in their special friend; be called back to get their height, weight and temperature; and help their friend get vitals and vaccinations. Each family will receive a swag bag with items to help continuing care at home; there will be more giveaways throughout the morning. Register for the event at eventbrite.com.

Family picnic event coming up

GREENFIELD – A free picnic is coming up for families.
