GREENFIELD — Hamilton County arrest records show Nichole R. Gilbert, who is a Greenfield Police Department officer, was arrested by officials from the Fishers Police Department early Sunday morning. Gilbert, Fortville, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Hamilton County, arrest records show.
Officials with the GPD sent out a press release around 10 a.m. Sunday morning saying one of their officers had been arrested for OWI in Hamilton County, but they did not give any details of the arrest or the name of the officer.
“The officers’ name is not being released until we receive a copy of the report,” GPD Deputy Chief Charles McMichael said in the release. “Details of the arrest aren’t immediately clear at the time of this release.”
The Daily Reporter checked with Hamilton County arrest records and recongized Gilbert’s name on the intake arrest list. Accoording to Hamilton County arrest records, Gilbert was arrested at 1:23 a.m. by officials from the Fisher’s Police Department and taken to the Hamilton County Jail where she was booked into custody at approximately 2:27 a.m. June 18.
Court records indiacte Gilbert has been charged with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicted, a Class C misdemeanor, which is still pending and has not been officially filed, and that the case has been assigned to Hamilton County Magistrate Court.
Gilbert was officially listed as an inmate in the Hamilton County Jail via their arrest log filed under pretrial release.
McMichael noted in the release that the officer, has been placed on administrative leave until an internal investigation has been completed.
“We are committed to being transparent, even when we ourselves stumble,” McMichael said in the release.
