Free Family Fun series coming up

GREENFIELD – Hancock 4 Kids has announced its Free Family Fun Summer Series.

The first event is the seventh annual Superhero 5K and Kids Dash. The event will be June 10 at the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza and include a free kids dash for children in preschool through fourth grade and free sidewalk chalk at, bubbles, yard games and photo opportunities with superheroes like Mr. Incredible, Elsa and Belle. Adults and older children can register for the Superhero 5K with prizes for top finishers. The 5K is a fundraiser for the organization; for pricing and registration, visit hancock4kids.org.

The second event in the series is a free picnic in the park, set for 6:30 p.m. July 13 at Riley Park. There will be free hot dogs, games and a scavenger hunt with prizes.

The third event will be the organization’s annual backpack and school supplies giveaway. This year the event will be in conjunction with the Hancock County Community Night at the Hancock County Fairgrounds from 5-8 p.m. July 19. For updates and more information, visit hancock4kids.org.

Pennsy Trail extends one mile

GREENFIELD – Pennsy Trails of Hancock County announced a new one-mile stretch of the trail is open.

The trail has been paved between Hancock County Roads 400W and 500W. Scouts can earn an environmental science badge at the site through a series of educational stations. Eventually, plans are for the trail to be connected to 600W to create a contiguous trail from Hancock County to west of Irvington in Indianapolis.

Changing Footprints announces summer hours

GREENFIELD – Changing Footprints recently announced new summer hours.

Starting June 1, the organization that gives away shoes for free will be open 2-6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Saturday hours will be available for special circumstances. Local attorney to chair state event

GREENFIELD – A local attorney was recently selected to chair a state seminar.

Krysten M. LeFavour with Craig, Kelley and Faultless will be program chair at Indiana Trial Lawyers Association’s 2023 Workers Compensation Seminar.

LeFavour has worked with Craig, Kelley and Faultless on personal injury cases for 15 years. She is a former hearing judge with the Indiana Workers’ Compensation Board, serving from 2007-2018. LeFavour currently handles cases involving serious injury and wrongful death in personal injury and workers’ compensation, and also resolves post-settlement challenges such as liens and subrogation interests with federal compensation plans.

The seminar is scheduled for June 9.
