Golf outing, ball drop to benefit Agape

GREENFIELD – Agape therapeutic horse riding will have a benefit golf fundraiser June 6 in Fishers, alongside a helicopter ball drop where every ball purchased represents one lesson for a student.

Par for the Horse begins at 11 a.m. at River Glen Country Club, 12010 Clubhouse Drive, Fishers. Register at agaperiding.org/golf. Indiana Search & Rescue will fly a restored Vietnam era helicopter over the chipping green at the conclusion of the event and the goal is for 600 golf balls to be dropped, with proceeds going toward lessons. Batmobile to be at Morristown fundraiser

MORRISTOWN – A fundraiser is coming up this Saturday, May 27 benefiting Hope Center Indy.

The luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kopper Kettle Restaurant, 135 W. Main St., Morristown and will include Mary Kay demonstration with drawings and special prizes. Rocky Tilson, owner of the original Batmobile, will be taking people on tours of his home located beside the restaurant. Tilson is the AAU Weightlifting World Champion and Hall of Fame member.

Cost is $18.95 for fried chicken plate or $16.95 for chicken salad plate; event includes complimentary champagne and dessert. Seating is limited to 25 people and reservations are required by texting “reservation” to 317-354-6106 or emailing [email protected]. Hope Center Indy is a shelter and education facility near New Palestine for women overcoming sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Kids camp seeks donations

GREENFIELD – The Royal Kids Camp is seeking donations this month of beach towels, backpacks, school supplies and Walmart gift cards.The camp offers a week-long experience each June for children in the foster care system in Hancock County. Florist to host car show Father’s Day weekend

GREENFIELD — A summertime classic car tradition is returning to the corner of McKenzie Road and State Street.

Penny’s Florist will host a car show 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17 in the same tradition that the former restaurant Jim Dandy used to host for years. The lot at 80 W. McKenzie Road has space for 45 to 50 cars and registration is open now. The event will benefit the Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House.

Registration fee is $30 and early registration is preferred. There will be awards for the top three cars and a viewers choice award.

On site will be Gocki’s Smoking BBQ food truck, serving breakfast and lunch for purchase.

Golf scramble to benefit American Legion

GREENFIELD – A benefit golf scramble for the Dale E. Kuhn American Legion Post 119 is coming up.

The four-person golf scramble is scheduled for noon June 16 at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course in Greenfield. It’s open to the first 18 teams to register; deadline to register is May 30. Cost is $70 per person or $280 per team and includes golf, cart, range balls, a box lunch and three drink tickets. There’s a cash payout for first, second and third place.

Fortville parade set for June 3

FORTVILLE – The Fortville Ball Day Parade presented by the Mt. Vernon Optimist Club will be at 9 a.m. June 3, with road closures beginning at 8 a.m.

The parade route will begin at Landmark Park, travel south on Leland, west on Staat, southwest on Noel, east on Mill, south on Ash, west on Pearl, north on Main Street to Church, then west to Memorial Park for the parade’s conclusion.

Libertarian party to host event

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Libertarian Party is hosting a candidate call-out and meet-and-greet with mayoral candidate Larry Silver.

The event will be from 2-3:30 p.m. June 4 in the community room of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. All are welcome and light refreshments will be available. The event is also designed to get candidates on the ballot prior to the July 3 deadline for the fall general election.

Cumberland to host Trails Day

CUMBERLAND – Cumberland Trails Day is forming up 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3.

The annual event includes a painting class, a group bike ride and activities specifically for families, like a nature art activity, nature scavenger hunt, storytime and more. The free event is in Lions Park, 301 Buck Creek Road, Cumberland.
