Children’s theater this weekend

GREENFIELD – “Gravestone Manor” will be presented this weekend by KidsPlay Inc. children’s theater.

The six one-act plays will be performed at 7 p.m. April 21 and 22 and at 2 p.m. April 23 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. Tickets are $5 at Hometown Comics, 1040 N. State St., or at the door an hour before show time. For more, visit KidsPlay Inc. on Facebook.

Countywide student art show this week

NEW PALESTINE – The 36th annual Hancock County Art Show will be today, April 20 and Friday, April 21 at the New Palestine High School gym.

The event will include more than 2,500 works of students in kindergarten through 12th grade from all four public school districts in the county, as one of the largest exhibits of k-12 student art in the entire state. The event is 3:30-8 p.m. each day; senior award recognition is at 6 pm. Friday. There is also a brown bag raffle with cash and check accepted, with winners announced at 7 p.m. Friday.

Book signing this weekend

GREENFIELD – Local author Pat Robinson will have a book signing at noon April 22 at the Gilded Nest, 10 W. Main St., Greenfield. Robinson, author of “The Predator,” shares her story as a victim of domestic violence. She is a volunteer with the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Sexual Assault Resonse Team and has testified in the Indiana Senate for improved domestic violence laws.

Parks department accepting artwork

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation is accepting pieces of art to be featured in Depot Street Park all year.

The 2023 Spring Art Callout is open through May 12. The theme is “All Things Nature.” Three submissions may be accepted per person; artwork must be original and artists must live in Hancock County. Art will be divided among children grades k-1; children grades 4-6; grades 7-8; 9-12; and adult. Submit artwork to 280 Apple St., Greenfield; call 317-325-1465 with questions.

“Alice in Wonderland” to be performed in New Pal

NEW PALESTINE – New Palestine High School’s production of “Alice in Wonderland” is coming up April 28-30.

The play, adapted by Anne Coulter Martens, will be at 7 p.m. April 28 and 29, and at 2 p.m. April 30 at the New Palestine High School Auditorium, 4485 Victory Drive, New Palestine. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Figure drawing available at downtown gallery

GREENFIELD – Hancock County Arts is hosting costumed figure drawing sessions from 6-9 p.m. Thursdays in downtown Greenfield.

Cost is $2 per person and allows people to sketch a model, posing for a few 5 to 10 minute studies. Bring easels and supplies. The program is at the Twenty North Gallery, 20A N. State St., Greenfield; for questions, email [email protected].
