Greenfield
Nancy Wooten, of Greenfield, 69, passed away on Sunday, January 29. Born in Greenfield, the second daughter to Lowell & Marthalou (Bennett) Wooten,
A 1972 Graduate of Greenfield-Central High School, Nancy attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. She worked for Indiana Insurance company for several years as an adjuster before becoming an agent for a local insurance company in Greenfield. Later she managed senior apartment facilities.
Nancy always had a heart for service. She taught Sunday school, served in leadership roles at Greenfield Friends Church, and was a member of the local Delta Theta Tau sorority chapter for many years. Nancy served on several boards and committees throughout her life in service to the community.
But her heart and focus were always on her family. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers, and nieces. She was an avid participant in our Sunday night family card game and dinner. These often cutthroat games spanned generations but always ended in huge amounts of laughter and more smiles than hard feelings. In the past few years, Nancy had become the central point of information about life events for our dozens of extended cousins, keeping us all connected.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and brother John Wooten. Sisters Naomi Lyman and LouAnn Shelton Miller, brother Ty Wooten and three nieces, Hope Greathouse, Sophia Lyman, and Hannah Rawson, a great-niece and two great-nephews, and dozens of cousins survive her.
