GREENFIELD – The Rotary Club of Greenfield is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at a Bloodmobile located at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield.

Last week, Versiti Blood Center of Indiana issued an emergency appeal for blood donations, with less than a day’s supply of available blood and communities throughout the state facing potential crisis as hospitals may not have blood needed to treat patients. Versiti saw a significant decline in donations during the holiday season, according to a press release, and the downward trend continues into the new year. Versiti provides 70% of the blood and blood products in the state. To maintain a safe blood supply, 2,900 donors are needed each week.
