BONITA SPRINGS, FLORIDA

Lori Yazel passed away on December 23rd with her loving family at bedside. She was born on December 2nd, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. After moving to Indiana, she attended Bowers High School and then graduated from Darlington High School in 1956. She went on to graduate from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1960, and her Master’s in Education in 1964. During her time there, she was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She spent her career as an educator, teaching first and third grade for over 35 years in the Highland, Michigan City, and Greenfield school systems. After stepping away from direct teaching, she was able to continue her passion for education by supervising student teachers for Ball State.

Lori was heavily involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including graduate events for her sorority, local Bible study, and many others. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. Lori enjoyed travelling, reading, and soaking in the sunshine of SW Florida. Upon returning to Indiana 3 years ago, she was pleased to be able to watch her grandchildren take part in their numerous activities.

Lori is proceeded in passing by her husband of 59 years, Larry Yazel as well as her brothers Keith, Coleman, and Glen Norton. She is survived by her son, Eric Yazel, sister Dorothy Grimes, daughter-in-law Vicki Yazel, and grandchildren Blaine and Delaney Yazel.

Friends may call on December 29, 2022, from 4-6 pm at Seals Funeral Home in Fortville, Indiana. A celebration of life will begin immediately after at 6pm at the funeral home.
