Missions 101 starts in January

GREENFIELD — World Renewal’s Center for Bible and Ministry Studies will offer Missions 101 in January.

“Learn how we can all be on mission, right here at home, and journey with us as we talk about what God is doing through our leaders, missionaries, and pastors in countries throughout the world,” reads a description from the mission organization based in Greenfield. “Could missions be a part of your future? Come learn more!”

Missions 101 will start Feb. 6, in person (at Brandywine Community Church in Greenfield) and online.

Donna Franklin, World Renewal International Ministries Director, leads this six-week course.

Signup deadline is Feb. 1.

Ministries have wish lists, too

HANCOCK COUNTY — Helping local ministries and/or non-profit organizations can be as close as your device.

Several have wish lists on Amazon. Among them are Life Choices Care Center in Greenfield, Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen in Greenfield and Cross of Grace Lutheran Church’s Groceries of Grace food pantry in New Palestine. Lists are often searchable by ministry name or city.

The Life Choices list at https://a.co/8l8zDl2 is mostly clothes and diapers for the families the center serves. The center also accepts gas and grocery gift cards such as from Walmart and Kroger; executive director Jillian Jarrett said the center has seen an increase in need among families amid inflation.

Cross of Grace’s “Pack the Pantry” list is available at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3ONYBSAHHRQ3P/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex.

Hope Center Indy in the New Palestine area has several wish lists based on different facets of its ministry to women exiting human trafficking and/or addiction. Givers could buy supplies for art therapy, for example, or house slippers for one of the residents, among other items. Find those lists at https://www.hopecenterindy.org/getinvolved; scroll down to “Amazon wishlists.”

In other cases, needed items are simply listed on an organization’s website. FARM (Fortville Area Resource Mission) and the soup kitchen have such lists on their websites (fortvillearearesourcemission.org/items-needed, kbmsk.org/wish-list). Hancock County Food Pantry has a donate button on its site (hancockcountyfoodpantry.com/donate). Hope House offers both a donate button and a list of needed supplies at www.hancockhopehouse.org/help/donate.

World Renewal, a missions organization with headquarters in eastern Hancock County, has a posted gift guide at www.worldrenewal.org/downloadable-resources.html (scroll to and select “gift guide”). Or one can direct a donation to a particular area of the world by visiting www.worldrenewal.org and selecting “Give” in the upper right.
