MORRISTOWN
W. Leroy Vest, age 73, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. He was born in Greenfield on May 19, 1949 and was raised by Richard and Lily Tutrow. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1968. Leroy was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. On August 31, 1991, he married Kathleen A. (Couch) in Indianapolis.
He was a member of the Local #22, the American Legion Post #102 in Morristown, the Harley Group, H.O.G, and was an associate member of Navy Seabees Veterans of America. Leroy was also a member at Church 52, where he enjoyed volunteering as a greeter. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, playing guitar, rooting for the Colts and enjoyed old hot rods. Leroy was an avid fan of the Morristown Yellow Jackets and watching all his grandkids sporting events. Most all of, he loved his family and spending time with them.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Vest of Morristown; daughter, April Smith (Travis) of Morristown; grandchildren, Mykynzy “Myky Moo”, James “Jaker”, and Loralei “Lolo”; spoiled dog, Jax; sisters, Nellie, Lyanda, Pat, and Carol; mother-in-law, Effie; father-in-law, Bill (Linda); brothers-in-law, Jeff, Dean (Peggy), Chris (Melissa), Steve (Robyn); sisters-in-law, Kim (Greg) and Kelly (Brian); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents that raised him, Richard and Lily Tutrow; his biological parents, Ruby and Lester; and brothers, Daryl, Dallas, Jackie, Bob and Joe; father-in-law, Bob; nephew, Brandon; and great-niece, Kynley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Military rites will be presented by the U.S. Army and the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. The family requests that friends wear Hawaiian shirts to services, as they were Leroy’s favorite.
