Hancock County Christmas Connection accepting donations

GREENFIELD – Those who want to help local families in need might consider a donation to Hancock County Christmas Connection.

Greenfield-Central Schools and local nonprofits work together to make Christmas a little brighter for children within the school system. Donations of gift cards or toys can be dropped off during school hours at Weston Elementary School, 140 Polk St., Greenfield, through Dec. 23. For more information, contact Terry Miller, 317-462-1492.

Santa has mailboxes in communities

GREENFIELD – Local communities are encouraging children to mail their letters to Santa in special mailboxes to get a reply.

The mailbox in McCordsville Town Hall is located in the lobby, 6280 W. 800N. The letter should include a return address for a reply. The building is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Greenfield Parks and Recreation is also encouraging letters. Any child who writes a letter and includes a self-addressed stamped envelope and drops it in a designated mailbox may get a response mailed back. Santa mailboxes are located at Depot Street Park and the Patricia Elmore Center in Riley Park. Letters should be in the mailbox between Nov. 28-Dec. 18.

Day of Love and Caring scheduled

GREENFIELD – The annual Day of Love and Caring will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds.

The event, hosted by God’s Open Arms Ministry, invites parents and grandparents to select Christmas gifts for children. There will also be bags of clothes and shoes available, as well as hot meals on site.
