Local resident volunteering while in college

MCCORDSVILLE – Sarah Himes of McCordsville, a nursing student at Cedarville University, is volunteering at a facility to help the unemployed, homeless or financially struggling.

Himes took part in a “Care of Populations” class in which the students surveyed the local community needs. Himes’ group decided to not only talk to people at Second Chance, but volunteer there at least once a week, preparing meals, answering phones and organizing events.

“They offer a hand up, not a handout,” Himes said in a press release. “It helps rehabilitate people, allowing them to move past where they are now.”

Cedarville is a faith-based institution in southwest Ohio. Himes is a graduate of Heritage Christian School.

EHHS to launch Alumni Hall of Fame

Charlottesville – Nominations are open now for the new Eastern Hancock High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

The award was founded to recognize and celebrate positive accomplishments and contributions of Eastern Hancock High School alumni.
