PUTNAM COUNTY — A Greenfield man was given a 10-year term in prison for two different child molesting charges stemming from an incident in October 2021.

According to court records, Mason R. McKinney, 29, 500 block of West McKenzie Road, Greenfield had his case settled via a plea agreement in Putnam Circuit Court in late September.

McKinney had originally been charged with three crimes, two different Level 4 felony counts of child molesting and one Level 5 felony count of child solicitation with the most serious charges carrying up to 12 years each with the advisory being six years.

The plea agreement called for McKinney to admit guilt to the two Level 4 charges while the Level 5 felony was dismissed.

McKinney was given a six-year term for each charge with five years to be executed at the Indiana Department of Corrections and one year suspended to probation. The terms are to run consecutively, court records show. He was officially sentenced on Sept. 22.

According to reports, McKinney molested his girlfriend’s son. The misconduct took place either when the mother was not home or was asleep, police reports show. The police report indicated there were two separate incidents in October, 2021.

McKinney is to report to Putnam County adult probation upon release.
