New Palestine’s volleyball team secured second place in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 3-1 victory at Mt. Vernon Thursday.

The Dragons are 23-4 on the season and finish HHC play 6-1. Mt. Vernon dropped to 11-16 and 2-5 in the conference.

Set scores for the match were: 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20.

New Pal libero Honour Mallory had 27 digs. Middle blocker Reagan Kleiman had 12 kills, six digs, four blocks and two service aces.

Also for the Dragons, Lauren Wilson, Isabella Gizzi and Bella Brownfield each had double-doubles. Wilson had 15 kills and 11 digs. Gizzi had 25 assists, 16 digs, and also had five kills. Brownfield had 10 kills and 10 digs.

Azure Flagle added 11 digs.

For Mt. Vernon, Sophia Damer had 10 kills, two blocks and two service aces. Alivia Morgan had eight kills and three blocks.

Olivia Johnson added 10 kills and Sierra Holverson totaled nine.

Ava Whitmore had 42 assists and two service aces.

On the back row, Libby Gee-Weiler had 27 digs, followed by Abby Herman with 18 and Ainsley Baer 13.

New Palestine is scheduled to play today in the Pike Invitational. Mt. Vernon is at the Carmel Invitational.

Cougars win home finale

Greenfield-Central’s volleyball team finished the home portion of their schedule with a 3-1 victory over Triton Central Thursday.

Set scores were 25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19.

Mya Grigsby had 20 kills and 12 digs. Rilee Roland had 14 kills and 12 digs. Makenna Rankins contributed 46 assists.

The Cougars are 10-16 on the season and play today in the Twin Lakes Invitational.
