MUNCIE — Brad Allen scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Greenfield-Central to a 28-6 Hoosier Heritage Conference victory at Delta Friday.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak. The Cougars are 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the HHC. Delta dropped its fifth in a row and is 3-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
“It feels good to get back on the winning side of things, with the last two weeks. We felt we gave one away (against Yorktown) last week,” Greenfield-Central coach Travis Nolting said. “It feels good to get back in the ‘W’ column.”
Allen, who normally plays most of his snaps on defense, has been called in to play more at fullback with an injury to starter Andrew Zellers. The Cougars also played much of the game without tailback Brayden Herrell, who left with an injury.
On Friday, Allen had 29 carries for 126 yards and all three of the team’s offensive scores.
“We’re dealing with injuries still, so Brad had to step up and play a little more offense than he’s used to,” Nolting said. “He did a good job and was tough to bring down. He did a great job of churning out yards when we needed him to.”
Lane Wadle had a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Along with getting a strong night from Allen, Owen Anderson had 15 carries for 82 yards. Jake Hinton had 14 tackles.
Greenfield-Central ends the regular season Friday with a home game against New Castle (2-6, 1-5).
