Monster Dash to benefit Cumberland police

CUMBERLAND – A Monster Dash benefiting the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 15 on the Pennsy Trail behind Cumberland Town Hall, 11501 E. Washington St., Cumberland.

The event features a 5K walk/run at 10 a.m. followed by a kids race at 11 a.m. There will also be children’s activities, a costume contest and a celebration of the town mascot, Maximus. Adult registration fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt; children under 12 get in free.

Proceeds benefit the police department’s C.A.R.E. unit team. Register at raceroster.com/events/2022/62981/monster-dash.

Night Hike scheduled for Thornwood Preserve

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation will host a Night Hike at Thornwood Preserve Oct. 15, with spooky stories and information on nocturnal life.

There are two walks available, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 15. Spots are available to stay at the campground for a bonfire and s’mores for those who do not wish to walk. Cost is $5 and proceeds benefit an upcoming nature center, scheduled to open in 2023.

Halloween event for disability community set

GREENFIELD – A Halloween event designed for the disability community is scheduled for 3-9 p.m. Oct. 22.

Families United for Support and Encouragement (FUSE) is hosting a Trunk or Treat and Monster Mash at 5999 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield. All ages are welcome; the Trunk or Treat is 3-6 p.m. while the Monster Mash dance is 5-9 p.m. There will also be a bounce house, food and pumpkin painting. Registration is encouraged at fuseinc.org.
