MV schools earn honor from company

FORTVILLE – All five Mt. Vernon schools earned the “Highly Effective Schools” accreditation from Solution Tree, a professional development company for educators. This is the second year in a row the schools have earned the accreditation by maintaining and growing in areas such as a supportive and collaborative culture; effective teaching; viable curriculum; standards-referenced reporting; and competency-based education.

Schools selected for the accreditation were McCordsville Elementary School, Fortville Elementary School, Mt. Comfort Elementary School, Mt. Vernon Middle School and Mt. Vernon High School. The local schools were the only ones in Indiana to receive the accreditation from the company; the other three schools to achieve an accreditation are in Arkansas, according to solutiontree.com.
