The ‘uglifying’ of Hancock County

To the Editor:

If you like that part of our county north of I-70 and several miles in both directions of Mt. Comfort Road, you are going to love it that the Hancock County Commissioners plan to make that same mess on CR 200W on both sides of I-70.

Hoping that the state will build an exit there, the Commissioners are about to hire, without anyone else bidding, a group of companies to build all of the infrastructure needed to junk up that part of the county.

I don’t know anyone who likes what has happened around Mt. Comfort Road. Who is it that wants even more of these big, white ugly storage buildings? This is not the county I moved to. This is not progress. The Commissioners are turning over more large chunks of our land to those who want to further uglify our county.

And the Commissioners want to try, for the fourth time, to bring vocational education to our county. The three previous attempts by other groups have found that we don’t have the population to support this.

Can’t we learn from the past? We need to have a program to educate our Commissioners.
