GREENFIELD
Wanda “Ruth” Wright, age 92, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Sunday April 24th , 2022, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Malakoff, TX.
She was born in the family home south of Beall, Indiana on September 14, 1929, to Cletus Edward and Pauline Ruth (Stafford) Claycomb. She became a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes IN.
Then went onto marry Charles “Mel” Wright in September of 1950.
Bookkeeping was her choice of employment over the years at Bradley Hall Furniture, Irving Materials, Steak and Shake Corp then retired from McGee Handling Systems in 2000.
She loved her grand and great-grand kids along with her flowers, that she had around the yard and in the house. She won a neighborhood award for best exterior flower showing one summer.
Ruth is survived by her son, Dan (Wendy) of Malakoff, TX, brother Larry (Linda) Claycomb of Los Angeles, CA and sister Joan McClellan of Muncie, IN, sister-in-law Shirley Mitchell of Springfield, MO, several cousins along with 20+ nieces and nephews. Grandchildren; Janell (Antony) Stewart, Chris Wright, Dannita Wright and Jordan Wright all of Greenfield. Great-grandchildren; Peyton Knarr, Alexis Knarr, Morgan Wright, Victoria Wright and Elijah Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Charles “Mel” Wright; her parents, Cletus and Pauline Claycomb; brother, Edward Keith “Bud” Claycomb, sisters Imogene “Jean” (Claycomb) Waggoner and Sharon Kaye (Claycomb) Halter and nephews Ed and Don Claycomb.
There will be no visitation or memorial service per “Ruth’s” request.
She did ask to have her ashes interned at Washington Park East Cemetery 10612 E. Washington St Indianapolis, IN. Where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.
